The amazing combination of chocolate and banana makes for a yummy, healthy, filling and warming breakfast. It is easily made and tastes delicious when topped with some fresh fruit and a dollop of almond butter.
Perfect for a winter morning, simply place your oats and chia seeds into a pot, pour in the water and start heating gently. Once the mixture starts to thicken, add in the cocoa, cinnamon and banana and continue cooking until thick. Pour into a bowl, put on your favourite toppings and you are ready to indulge!

Chocolate and Banana Porridge
Recipe
Ingredients:
- 45 g whole rolled oats
- 5 g chia seeds
- 250 ml water
- 1 banana, sliced
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- Cinnamon
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- honey (optional, add according to amount of sweetness desired)
- fresh fruit and almond butter (or any other nut butter), to serve
Method:
- Add the oats, chia seeds and water to a pot and set over a medium heat.
- In the meantime, thinly slice the banana. Keep aside a few slices to top the porridge with later.
- Once the oat mixture is starting to thicken, stir in the sliced bananas.
- Then add the cocoa powder, cinnamon, vanilla extract and honey (if using) and stir the oats until everything is well combined.
- Continue to cook and stir occasionally for a few more minutes, until the oats are thick, and the banana has “melted” into the porridge.
- Pour into a bowl and serve with the left-over slices of banana, some fresh fruit and nut butter.
