It´s time for another one of my 5-minute breakfasts! This time, I am sharing with you a quick and easy way to make your own cherry yoghurt! I love adding this little twist to my classic breakfast bowl, consisting of oats, granola, banana, yoghurt and fresh fruit!
These cereal breakfast bowls are some of my absolute go-to breakfasts! They are right up there with two of my other favourites: a Blueberry Smoothie Bowl and my Apple and Cinnamon Porridge!
Homemade Cherry Yoghurt
I love a fruit yoghurt as a change from the usual plain natural yoghurt just as much as the next person, however, shop-bought fruit-flavoured yoghurts are really a bit of a devil in disguise. Not only do they tend to be more expensive, and often they are absolutely loaded with sugar and artificial flavourings! But the ABSOLUTE WORST, is when they don´t even contain any ACTUAL REAL FRUIT! Like, what´s that even about?
That´s why, I find it a lot easier to make my own! Takes two minutes and all you need are two ingredients: Your usual natural yoghurt and frozen cherries! Simply take some frozen cherries and leave them to defrost in a bowl in the fridge overnight. That way they will be fully thawed by the morning and they will have released some of their juices! All you need to do then the next morning is break up the fruit a bit and stir in your natural yoghurt, until it is lovely and pink! And that´s it! Homemade cherry yoghurt for breakfast. Made in two minutes and containing real fruit and no unnecessary sugar or flavourings!
You can make either a single portion of cherry yoghurt to have for breakfast (see recipe below), but you could also make a larger batch of it and keep it in the fridge for a few days! Just stir some defrosted cherries into the yoghurt pot and you are good to go! #MealPrep!
Add this Cherry Yoghurt to Your Breakfast Bowl!
My absolute go-to breakfast consists of oats, granola, yoghurt, a sliced banana, and fresh fruit. It takes me less time to make that it takes the kettle to boil for my morning cup of tea! So quick and easy, perfect for a speedy breakfast before Uni! Because you know what they say, NEVER skip your breakfast, it´s the most important meal of the day! And quite frankly one of my favourites!
So for a twist on my classic breakfast bowl, I just add some of the homemade cherry yoghurt instead of the plain yoghurt. A tiny difference, that makes all the difference! Just a lovely little change-up from the usual!

Cherry Yoghurt and Chocolate Granola – Match Made in Heaven!
On the talk of granola, making my own has become my new thing! I LOVE it! Although you can get some pretty good granola from the shops, it can be expensive, and is often very high in sugar. Making it yourself may actually be a bit cheaper, will definitely have less sugar and you can add WHATEVER you like to it! Win-win I´d say!
With this 5-Minute Cherry Breakfast Bowl, serving the Cherry Yoghurt with my Homemade Chocolate and Hazelnut Granola was amazing! I mean cherries and chocolate. It´s a classic combination that just works so well!

Cherry Yoghurt and Chocolate Granola Breakfast Bowl
Recipe
Ingredients:
- 100g frozen cherries (I get mine from Morrisons or Lidl)
- 120g plain natural yoghurt of your choice
- 30g porridge oats
- 20g granola (I used my Homemade Chocolate and Hazelnut Granola)
- 1 banana, sliced
- fresh fruit (e.g. cherries, grapes, blueberries, etc.), to top (optional)
- soaked chia seeds (optional)
Method:
- The night before, remove 100g of frozen cherries from the freezer and put them into a bowl. Place the bowl into the fridge and leave the cherries to defrost overnight. If you want to add some soaked chia seeds, you can also prepare them now and leave them overnight (check out this recipe here to find out how).
- In the morning, remove the defrosted cherries from the fridge. They should be fully thawed and have released some of their juices. If you like, you can use a spoon to break them up a little to release even more of the juices and create smaller chunks of fruit.
- Next, to make the cherry yoghurt, stir the natural yoghurt into the cherries until combined and the yoghurt has turned a pink/red colour!
- Add the oats and granola to the yoghurt, stir, then top with the sliced banana and any additional fresh fruit! Enjoy!
