Blueberry Smoothie Bowl – One of my Favourite Breakfasts

Edit: April 2020

When I first posted this blueberry smoothie bowl in July 2019, I had only just started making smoothie bowls. One year, and many smoothie bowls later, this blueberry smoothie bowl is still my favourite one to date!

Blueberry Smoothie Bowl with Fresh Berries

It´s like having ice cream for breakfast!

Smoothie bowls are a great treat in the morning because it feels a bit like having ice cream for breakfast. It´s a really refreshing way to start the day on a warm summer morning, but to be honest, I enjoy this smoothie bowl all year round!

Smoothie bowls are very quick to make if you have all the ingredients ready to go in the mornings! I would recommend slicing and freezing a banana in the evening. Then all you need to do in the morning is half your avocado, grab the frozen banana and berries from the freezer, add the almond milk and blend!

Go Crazy With The Toppings

I think the best thing about smoothie bowls is the vast amount of possibilities you have when it comes to toppings! You can really go to town with them!

I love topping this blueberry smoothie bowl with some granola, chia seeds and fresh fruit. My favourite fruits to add are fresh raspberries, blueberries, strawberries or grapes. Feel free to play around with different combinations of toppings to see what you like most!

I would definitely recommend some sort of element of crunch to the smoothie bowl, either with seeds, nuts or granola. Recipe Tips

1. You can also use other milk if you like: normal milk, oat milk, soya milk, hazelnut milk etc…

2. Prepare your frozen banana in advance (e.g. the night before). Slice the banana, put it in a freezer bag and freeze it overnight. Or keep a whole stash of frozen banana slices in the freezer if you make smoothie bowls more often.

3. If you don´t have a sharp-bladed blender, use half a frozen banana and half a fresh banana. That way it will be easier for your blender to blend it.

4. Whilst you are preparing your smoothie bowl you could chill your bowl in the fridge. That way the smoothie will stay cool for longer once you have added it to the bowl.
