Over the last few weeks I have been making all of my favourite Christmas biscuits! Ahead of Christmas, I will probably be making another batch or two of my absolute favourites!
In order to give you an overview of my favourites in one post, I have compiled this round-up of my Top 5 Christmas Biscuit Recipes.
One of my recipes below, my Chocolate Orange Crescents, was also recently featured in this recipe round-up of the Best Christmas Cookies of 2019 by Meals and Mile Markers!
If you have any great Christmas biscuit/cookie recipes you´d like to share or you would like me to make, leave a comment down below!
1) Gingerbread Men
Starting off with this absolute classic, you can find my recipe for Gingerbread Men here. I have been using this recipe for over 5 years now and have come up with the (in my opinion) perfect blend of spices for a great gingerbread flavour! These biscuits are perfect for icing and kids will definitely enjoy the process of cutting these biscuits out and decorating them afterwards!
2) Vanilla Crescents – “Vanillekipferl”
Vanilla Crescents, or “Vanillekipferl” as they are called in German, are probably the most classic of all German Christmas biscuits. Which makes them an absolute Christmas biscuit tin staple! The ground almonds in this mix give these biscuits their crumbly texture and makes them melt in the mouth! Find the recipe for my Vanillekipferl here.
3) Hazelnut Biscuits – “Haselnussbrot”
These Hazelnut biscuits are another one of my absolute favourites! These buttery biscuits made with whole hazelnuts and dipped in dark chocolate are a delight to eat! They are extremely easy to make and I will have eaten them all so quickly you might not have even noticed they were in the biscuit tin in the first place! I would highly recommend making these hazelnut biscuits (called “Haselnussbrot” in the original recipe) – I could have them any time of the year!
4) Chocolate and Orange Crescents – “Schoko-Orangen Kipferl”
If you are a fan of chocolate and orange, then you are in for a treat with these Chocolate Orange Crescents! They are also shaped into the iconic “Kipferl” shape you can see with Vanillekipferl. Again, this recipe is extremely easy to make, the only time-consuming part is shaping the actual biscuit! But it´s the perfect thing to do whilst you are waiting for some of your other Christmas biscuits to bake!
5) Piped Christmas Biscuits – “Spritzgebäck”
I am finishing off this list of my Top 5 Christmas Biscuit Recipes with my “Spritzgebäck” recipe.
A bit more effort and skill is required to make these piped biscuits. The biscuit dough is very buttery and soft, allowing it to be spooned into a piping bag and piped into different shapes! A very fun biscuit to make – just remember to cool the piped biscuits before you bake them so that they keep their shape in the oven!!! The Spritzgebäck is later dipped in some melted chocolate and can then be decorated with sprinkles of your choice!!!
